USB Device ViewerOn the Windows 98 CD-ROM look under Tools\Reskit\Diagnose. Here you find the program Usbview.exe. It reports on the present USB units. Here I use the USB hub sitting in the stand of the Sony F400 monitor. This hub is seen in the list as 'General purpose hub'. The screendump from USB Device Viewers:
The hub controlls four units:
The great thing is, that all this works together without any problems or conflicts. I can work with both scanners simultanously, each of them can be processing a job at the same time while I works with other tasks on the PC. All four units are connected to the PC with one USB cable coming from the hub in the monitor.
Since this I have replaced the HP S20 diasscanner with a Canon FS2710 diasscanner. It is a great scanner, only it takes SCSI to work (the SCSI adapter is included). USB version 1.0 is too slow (and perhaps unstable) for high resolution scanning.
